Semester 2 Week 12 Colour in spring

The composition of this drawing is successful. The parts on the left of the tree in the middle and the tree itself, create a balance with the right part. The mixture of blue tones is efficient for the sky, and the mixture of the yellow and green values are very appropriate for the tree in the middle.

Semester 2 Week 11 Contemporary architecture

The perspective of this drawing is not very obvious. However, the curved piece of building create an impression of depth and foreshortening. Additionally, the straight lines of the pieces under the curved one, create a contrast with it.

Semester 2 Week 10 Classical interiors at Cartwright Hall in Lister Park (Bradford)

The composition of this drawing is not efficient. The right side has more elements that the left one and there is no balance. The strokes of shading of the column on the right follow the direction of its form, but the strokes are very intense on its left side and it does not appear three dimensional.

Semester 2 Week 9 Shadow and tonal values EXCURSION Royal Armouries, Leeds

The composition of this drawing is very successful. The stature on the right creates a balance with the walls on the left. The perspective is not efficient, because the lines of the wall on top is curved. The strokes of shading of the walls follow the direction of their form. The strokes of the knight statue are too intense.

Semester 2 Week 8 Scenic Composition

The composition of this drawing is successful. The tree on the left creates a balance with the  right part of the drawing. However, the perspective is not depicted efficiently with the line above that tree. The strokes of shading of the tree follow the direction of its form and with the highlights, it defines the form very properly. The strokes of the shading of the grass in the middle are not very obvious, also the highlight between is very intense and feels separate.

Semester 2 Week 7 Perspective of curves

The composition is very efficient. The dark wall creates a balance with the lighter one next to it and the parallel lines on the left. Additionally, the single point perspective is described by these lines effectively. The curves on the top are very well formed. The soft shading of the glasses on the right show the light source.

Semester 2 Week 6 Landscape, angles in architecture

The composition is efficient enough, however, if the building was lower, it would probably be more balanced. The straight lines of the building create an interesting contrast with the curves of the road. The perspective is single point, as the vanishing point is on the white spot in the middle of the building. The soft shading of the white wall on the right describes the light direction effectively.

Semester 2 Week 4 Anatomy and movement

The head of the right study is too big. The pose of the model is obvious thanks to the strokes which portray the legs and body. Additionally, the shading is also very efficient.
The body of the middle study is described more effectively, as the dark strokes portray the left hip and differentiates it from the other. The direction of the left arm gives the impression that the model rests on it.

Semester 2 Week 3 Anatomy and movement

The pose of the first study is very well described thanks to the angle of the head and right shoulder. However, the left leg seems very thin, and also the right arm is distracted from the shoulder.
The pose of the second study is very well formed with the angle of the head, left shoulder, and the back. Furthermore, the line for the shoulder follows its direction, and the curved line for the spine is also appropriate. Even though the left arm is not obvious, the angle of the left triceps give the impression of the arm direction. Additionally, the angle of the right foot gives an essence of perspective.
The third study on the right is smaller, and gives the impression of depth. The foreshortening of the upper left leg is not appropriate.

Semester 2 Week 2 Balance, weight and dynamism

The angle of the back describes the pose very well. Additionally, the foreshortening of the left arm is very efficient, and creates an essence of depth. The body seems to rest on the legs, because of the angle of the back. Additionally, the intense strokes of shading of the chest and under, which become weaker as they reach the back, and their direction which follows these parts, make the drawing more three dimensional. However, the strokes of the left upper leg do not follow the direction of its form very well, and the highlight on the left knee is very intense. The feet are not detailed.

Semester 2 Week 1 Emotion in posture and pose

The intense stroke of shading of the left hand makes gives the impression that the head rests on it. This part is appropriate to show emotion. The muscles of the left shoulder and triceps are very well formed thanks to the curves. However, the angle of the left lower leg is not correct, and the foreshortening is not appropriate. The left leg is too thin. Furthermore, the right arm is not described very effectively, probably because of the weak strokes of shading. The angle of the shoulder is efficient, thanks to the curve which describes it. The pose of the model is described thanks to the angles of arms and shoulder.

Semester 1 Week 13 Posture and pose

The left arm of is too short and thin. The right lower leg is maybe thin, but the foreshortening is appropriate enough. Additionally, the part under the left knee is not drawn properly. The line for the direction of the shoulders does not follow them, but the muscles of the shoulders are effectively formed. Furthermore, the left arm is not obvious, but the direction of the left shoulder gives the impression that the model is standing. The figure is dynamic, thanks to the angle of the left leg. The shading of the upper left leg and the highlights, make it appear more three dimensional.

Semester 1 Week 12 Muscular anatomy

The muscles of the right triceps and shoulder are very well formed, thanks to the curves, the shading and the highlights. The muscles of the chest are efficiently drawn, and also the direction of the left gastrocnemius describes this muscle very well. However, the lower left arm is not detailed enough, but it slightly gives an essence of direction. Additionally, the direction of the lower right arm, and the degree of the shoulders, give the impression that the model is resting on the right leg. The foreshortening of the left leg is successful, thanks to the direction of the lower part and the direction of the foot. The shading of the chest and under, make the drawing more three dimensional, because of the strokes which follow the direction of these parts, the intense strokes from where the shading begins, and the highlights.

Semester 1 Week 11 Muscular anatomy

The muscles of the first study are very well formed. The curves of the triceps of the right arm are successfully drawn and describe the structure. Additionally, the muscles under the right arm and the direction of the muscles of the chest, give an impression of depth. However, the left arm is not formed properly, because of the elbow. Even though the lower left leg is too thin, the foreshortening of the upper part is efficient enough, as the curves create an essence of depth.
The muscles of the left arm of the second study are described more successfully, thanks to the curves formation. The upper part of the left leg is longer and the lower part too thin.
The lines for the shoulder direction are not appropriate because they are curved. The direction of the line for the spine is not upright enough. The lines for the waist is more efficient, but the one for the bottom of the spine is not parallel to the former.

Semester 1 Week 9 Basic Anatomy

The direction of the arms, back and legs, describe the pose of the body successfully. The muscles of the left arm are very well formed, portraying their curves and giving the impression that the arm rests on the leg. Even though the left hand is not drawn detailed, the degree of the arm describe its position. Shading makes the drawing more three dimensional, because the highlights on the triceps of the right arm, and the strokes on the biceps create an essence of form. However, the shading and highlights of the back seem separate because of the tonal difference. Even though the direction of the strokes of the left lower leg follows its form, it does not create the impression of three dimensions, because the highlights are not strong enough. The coloured lines are very different from the others and distracting.

Semester 1 Week 8 Basic Anatomy

This drawing is very well structured proportionally. Even though the model bends forward, the height according to the head measurement is very efficient. Additionally, the angles give the essence of this particular posture. The degree of the left part of the body describes the leaning of the model. Furthermore, the muscles of the left arm are very well drawn, in order to demonstrate that the model is standing. The right arm is not obvious, but the degree of the triceps give the impression of the arm direction. Foreshortening is not intense, because the pose of the model is upright. The right foot creates an essence of perspective, but its position gives the impression that the leg is lifted up. The tones and the highlights on the body are successful, as they make the drawing more three dimensional, the back in particular, and the direction of the strokes describes its form. However, the strokes of the hips do not depict their form efficiently.
